How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Is 52:7 NIV
This week I had the distinct privilege of teaching this passage to our college group at church. We are going through a series on the book of Ephesians, and Paul alludes to this passage in Ephesians 6 where he speaks of feet shod with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace. It was such a poignant reminder to me of the incredible life changing power of the Gospel, and the awesome responsibility that followers of Jesus have in taking the Gospel to the Nations.
The imagery in Isaiah 52 is one of a herald, who is running ahead of a victorious army to proclaim that the battle has been won. There will be peace! The simple yet profound message of the Gospel is that we can have peace with God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ! All of us are enemies of God because of our sin. Christ lived the perfect sinless life that you and I could not, and died in our place, that we might have peace with God. May we never get over this astounding truth! Apart from the Gospel, there is no hope for humanity. Because of the Gospel there is nothing but hope for those who are in Christ Jesus!
I am so thankful for the prayers and support of so many that make our ministry possible. Wherever you are today and whatever you are doing, may you experience the peace of God through the truth of the Gospel, and may you have beautiful feet that are swift to share the good news!
