He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 2 Cor. 9:10-11 ESV
One of the things I love about outdoor ministry is that it moves with the rhythm of the seasons. We labor year round, but at times we are planning and preparing, and at other times we are facilitating programs and implementing change. This recent season has been one of sowing the seed. We have had so many opportunities to share our ministry vision with potential partners, and it has been lifegiving to watch the people of God connect with that vision and get involved with what the Lord is doing in and through Ascend.
Last week I had the opportunity to participate in a two day support raising training here in Austin. Thirteen years ago when Gera and I first took this training, we were the newcomers, wet behind the ears and fresh on the mission field. Now we are seasoned veterans! It was so encouraging to be with 60 plus faith based missionaries, most of whom are taking on brand new roles and just beginning the journey of gathering their ministry team.
As I had multiple opportunities to share Ascend’s vision with my fellow missionaries, I was struck by God’s steadfast faithfulness throughout this incredible journey. I was reminded of all the amazing people God has provided as laborers and how He has used their sacrifices and service to build His ministry. As we enter into a new season of ministry and once again gather new stakeholders and plan with new leaders of partnering ministries, I am reminded that it is the Lord who provides the seed. He is the one who multiplies the seed and brings the harvest. My job is simply to mobilize the workers and together sow the seed. It is my prayer that wherever God is leading you to invest your life, you will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us all will produce thanksgiving to God.
